Experienced Culvert and Retention Pond Contractor Serving Western Washington Since 1989
Along with road and bridge construction, Nordvind Company provides infrastructure construction for a wide variety of other specialized projects. A highly experienced culvert and retention pond contractor, we design and install concrete box and long-arch culverts, open bottom arch multi-plates and more. We also perform culvert rehabs to restore structural integrity when safety inspections have been failed.
One popular culvert rehab technique involves cleaning and flushing the old structure and employing slip-lining rehabilitation. A slip line is a new pipe inserted inside the old culvert that relines it without the need for expensive excavation or demolition work. Relining is less labor-intensive, doesn’t contaminate nearby waterways, doesn’t disrupt underground utilities, and is more affordable than full culvert replacement.
Retention Pond Construction
Nordvind Company is also deeply experienced in the construction and restoration of retention ponds. Also known as retention basins, these structures store runoff water, promote sedimentation and prevent flooding of hazardous effluent and black water. Every such installation employs PVC lining to separate water from waste and chemicals that cause groundwater contamination. An alternative to traditional retention ponds, we sometimes recommend the use of a bioretention pond depending on the terrain. Accomplishing the same thing as a conventional retention basin, it instead utilizes a depressed vegetated area for storing water runoff. Special sewage and drainage systems are put in place for effective filtering.
